On March 2, 2016, the Thai Language Department, Faculty of Education, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, organized an internationalization project to develop the competencies of professional Thai language teachers. Dr. Thoms Bruce from the Thai Studies program at the Pridi Phanomyong International College (PBIC), Thammasat University, gave a lecture on "Developing English Academic Listening Skills: The History of British Education" to improve the English language skills of third-year students in the English for Thai Teachers course.
This project reflects the Faculty of Education's commitment to aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4: Developing "globalization competencies" in aspiring Thai language teachers. Enhancing English language proficiency will be a crucial tool for teachers to access global academic resources, leading to quality teaching and promoting lifelong learning for Thai youth in the future. Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals (SDGs)—inviting experts from leading educational institutions like the Pridi Phanomyong International College (PBIC), Thammasat University, to share knowledge strengthens academic collaboration and cross-institutional learning towards a shared goal of developing the country's human resources.
The Internationalization Promotion Project marks another significant step for the Thai Language Program, Faculty of Education, in producing graduates who are not only proficient in the national language and culture but also possess proficiency in foreign languages, a broad global perspective, and are ready to lead change in the modern classroom.
