Second-year Social Studies students from the Faculty of Education, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, conducted a field study on Western history and architecture at Phaya Thai Palace, as part of an integrated out-of-classroom learning experience.

On October 24, 2026, the Social Studies program organized an extracurricular learning activity. Lecturers Teerarat Thipjarasmetha and guest lecturer Pitchaya Sriroj led the second-year social studies students on a visit to Phaya Thai Palace in Bangkok to explore its history and Western-style architecture.

This field study was designed to broaden the students' perspectives by allowing them to engage directly with a historical site. Phaya Thai Palace stands as a significant piece of Thailand’s architectural heritage, reflecting the influence of Western art and architecture, as well as the social and political context of the past.

Throughout the activity, students not only gained an in-depth understanding of Western history and architecture but also developed an appreciation for the importance of preserving historical sites. Furthermore, they practiced integrating knowledge from various disciplines within the field of social studies—such as history, art history, sociology, and cultural studies—which will serve as a valuable foundation for their future academic pursuits and professional practice in education.
